By taking part in the first St. Moritz Art Masters, Julius Baer is supporting an event that features world-class contemporary art and classical music. Julius Baer’s traditional involvement in the areas of art and culture make the private bank the ideal partner for the event. As part of the diverse cultural programme, lasting from 29 August to 7 September 2008, Julius Baer will hold a Gala Evening and “Panorama Swiss” exhibition, which will feature a selection of artworks from the company’s art collection.

Julius Baer has for decades been renowned as a patron of the arts and culture. The Julius Baer art collection is especially important in this context. It was inspired by the Baer family, which has a longstanding personal interest in this field and began acquiring works of art in the 1930s. An Art Commission established in 1981 is responsible for buying new art, and a curator manages the collection and the presentation of the pieces within Bank Julius Baer. The Art Collection of Julius Baer today contains around 4,500 works with a focus on contemporary art. Devoted to the work of young artists, the collection should be viewed as a means of promoting artistic creativity. In this respect, it is a symbol of both the cultural commitments and corporate philosophy of Julius Baer.
At the St. Moritz Art Masters 2008, a selection of Julius Baer’s private collection will be open to the public. The works will be displayed in the new Julius Baer branch in St. Moritz, at Via Serlas 23, which will officially open for business on 1 December 2008.
