The renowned prize is known as one of the industry’s most coveted honours for research, originality and creativity in the watch making profession. On this occasion the Julius Baer scholarship was also awarded to support one talented emerging watchmaker.
Bank Julius Baer is devoted to supporting gifted young Swiss artists and craftsmen. Reflecting this engagement the Bank has launched a scholarship in order to support one talented young watchmaker. The scholarship holders have the opportunity to refine their trade working together with a craftsman or institution of their individual choice at the end of their professional training.
The scholarship consisting of CHF 20,000.- is presented during the award ceremony of the prestigious Prix Gaïa at the international watchmaking museum in La Chaux-de-Fonds. In 2008 the prestigious Prix Gaïa was awarded to Nicolas Hayek.
Julius Baer had the chance to enrol the Musée international d’horlogerie (MIH) director Ludwig Oechslin (picture on left) as a new ‘Unknown Master’ for the ‘What is Excellence?’ advertising campaign. In the interview linked to this new advertising Mr Oechslin also emphasises on the role of Julius Baer with the new talent financial support.
